Matthew 10:34 – Division (April 23)

Hello and thanks for joining in on to today’s daily devotion. Today is Saturday. April 23rd. The 7th day of the Hebraic week.

Our verses today is Matthew 10:34-36.

“Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law — 36 a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.'”

This is a verse you never hear pastors peach on. Think about it. These are some pretty strong words from Yeshua. But he said them nonetheless. It just seems so uncharacteristic for Yeshua to say such a thing though right? Actually no.

Though unity is something we should all seek after, it is Truth that we should be united in. We cannot sacrifice truth for the sake of unity. Yet that is what many do. Our ministry has spoken to many people lately who have spouses or family members who have completely rejected them and even cut them off from their lives because they are now pursuing the truth. This is truly sad. Yet, according to the words of Yeshua, something that we should not be surprised at.

If you are in this situation, please know that our hearts go out to you. Please know that you are not alone. If you are not in this situation, we ask that you remember those who are and keep them in prayer.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until tomorrow, shalom!
