Moment’s Notice – Nehemiah 4:17-18

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Nehemiah 4:17
…Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, 18 and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me.

This is the time when Judah was rebuilding the wall and was being threatened. Did they give up when they heard the threats? Of course not. Let’s read the previous couple of verses.

Nehemiah 4:15-17
When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to his own work. From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah who were building the wall.

And then we see many carried their swords in one hand while working with the other. Many others kept their swords right at their side while working. May that be our attitude in this life. To go through our everyday life but be ready at a moments notice for a battle if called upon.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.

Here's something interesting to consider:
