Too Much Zeal – Proverbs 19:2

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 19:2
It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.

All of us who claim to walk in the truth have our own understanding of the truth. That’s why we see so many different denominations and divisions in the body today. We can have great zeal for YHWH in what we believe to be true, but that doesn’t mean that everything we believe is fully based in the scriptures either.

When we think of the word “zeal” we most often think of one who is overly passionate about something. But please keep in mind that one can be calm, cool and collective all the while still maintaining an extreme zeal for something. One doesn’t have to be a zealot in how we appear to others while maintaining a great zeal for a particular topic.

One can be “hasty” while never looking impulsive or reckless. When we are quick to make choices and decisions based on our current knowledge without giving another consideration that we could be wrong, then that zeal could be causing us to make hasty choices while looking relaxed and confident as can be. Are you overconfident in your current beliefs?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, Shalom.
