The Need – Romans 12:13

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Romans 12:13
Share with God’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

One doesn’t have to be rich to share what he has. In fact, one doesn’t have to share a lot to help someone else in need. Let’s not forget the story in John chapter 6 of the young boy who gave just a little food but Yeshua turned it around and made it go much further than the young boy could have ever imagined.

It’s hard to imagine something like that happening through us though isn’t it? Why is that? I think we can overcome that mentality if we focus on the last two words of our verse. “Practice hospitality.” The Greek word for “practice” is actually better interpreted as “seek” or “pursue.” So it could also be rendered “Seek hospitality.”

When we seek hospitality, we don’t focus on how much or how little we have to give. We simply focus on looking to see where we can give. As silly as it may sound, I think the Father looks to work on the need in us more than through the gift we give.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
