Now? – Exodus 14:29-31

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Exodus 14:29-31
But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. That day YHWH saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. And when the Israelites saw the great power YHWH displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared YHWH and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.

Is there anything in these verses that just strikes you as unusual? When I was reading these verses, it was the last verse that made me pause and almost laugh. It says “And when the Israelites saw the great power YHWH displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared YHWH and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant.”

So what’s so funny about this? With all they saw from the hand of YHWH back in Egypt, why couldn’t they believe like this before they saw the Egyptians dead on the shore? Now, before we start cutting them down for their lack of faith, search your heart to see if you are the same.

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
