Obeying the Word – 1 Peter 1:22

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

1 Peter 1:22
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart.

“Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth…” That’s a statement that goes against a lot of theology. But it’s scripture. For some, it would imply what has been called a “works based” salvation. But is it a salvation by works or salvation proven by works? Even James speaks of this.

James 2: 24
You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.

Now we have two verses that talk about what we do. Do you rely on faith alone? There is no doubt that we are forgiven and cleansed by Yeshua’s sacrifice on the cross. But after that, we must choose to walk in His ways. To make old habits submit to the Word. To become more like Him by choosing to walk the way He did. In accordance to the Word. Are you making yourself pure everyday by making yourself obedient to the Word?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
