Our Refuge – Psalm 37:39-40

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Psalm 37:39
The salvation of the righteous comes from YHWH; he is their stronghold in time of trouble. 40 YHWH helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him.

Do we take refuge in YHWH? I know that sounds silly but we have to ask ourselves that question and be honest about it. If times of trouble broke out in the world today, would YHWH be your stronghold? Would you stand strong in your faith? Would you be able to stand up under difficult times?

The opening words of verse 39 speak volumes. “The salvation of the righteous comes from YHWH.” So our greater focus should be if we are walking in His righteousness. The rest of these two verses come to pass if so. Taking refuge in Him will be second nature if we are focused on living the righteous life given in the scriptures.

So to answer our question if we take refuge in YHWH, we need to first asked ourselves if we are walking in His righteousness.
