Pleasant Words – Proverbs 16:21

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Proverbs 16:21
The wise in heart are called discerning, and pleasant words promote instruction.

“Pleasant words promote instruction.” Not big words that impress. Not boring words that put many to sleep. Not loud words in strict reprimand. Not harsh words in cruel critique. Not mocking words in taunting ridicule. Not prideful words in a condescending manor. Rather, pleasant words. Pleasant words promote instruction.

Have you ever pondered the words that come out of your mouth every day? How do people take your words? I’ve once heard someone say they weren’t responsible for what others hear. They said they were only responsible for what they say. That sounds good on the surface but it’s really selfish and truly shows no concern for their listeners. If you don’t care what others hear, can you really say you are reaching out them in love? Or is it more out of pride to flaunt the knowledge you believe you possess? What if we are responsible for what others hear from us instead of what we think we say?

What kind of words do you speak?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
