Serving Tables – Acts 6:3

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Acts 6:3
Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them

These seven men were chosen. They were chosen for a specific job. Listen to verses 2 to hear what that job was.

2 So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables.”

These men were chosen to “wait on tables”. The requirements these men had to meet was that they had to be among the believers and known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. Just for “waiting on tables”.

Interesting isn’t it? Just to wait on tables, they had to meet these requirements. These men were qualified to teach, as we see Stephen did a few verses later. Yet, we never read where these men said they were “too good” to just be serving tables. They served regardless of what they were “qualified” for.

What’s your attitude in serving tables?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
