Spurring Others – Hebrews 10:24-25

Welcome to Scriptures for Life with TorahFamily.org. Taking time to focus on the Father’s way.

Hebrews 10:24-25
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Ever watch a cowboy show? Be it TV or movie, if the show was done right, they showed the cowboys wearing a pair of spurs. Spurs were placed on the back of the boots. They were used to poke the back side of a horse to make it run. Not a very pleasant feeling for the horse.

So, here we see the writer of Hebrews saying to “spur one another on.” However, we are encouraged to to do so towards love and good deeds. Verse 25 even implies it should be done for encouragement. All too often I’ve seen where people just want to spur others. Not so much out of love or encouragement but rather out of pride and arrogance for who is right in a debate.

So, how are you spurring others?

Let this be a focus in your time of meditation throughout the day. Until next time, shalom!
